Based on feedback gained from this crit, overall, my initial ideas for the publication were considered to be well-thought through. One of the most important aspects of this specific publication is that it must be personal, and so one idea was to use the collected material as the cover of the publication, which would mean that if it were to be mass produced, each individual copy would be slightly unique in design. However, it was suggested that rather than this, the book could be seen as a one-off publication, using other pieces of collected material as content of the book itself by binding these around the other content. It was also suggested that due to the more personal aspect, images and other content could be stuck within the publication using simpler methods, such as with tape and paperclips, taking inspiration from the design and subjective nature of travel journals, which the individual makes personal to them.
The idea of producing individual and obscure grids based on each place of interest was well-considered and thought of as an interesting way to link the overall design and layout of the publication to its subject matter. It was unclear as to whether these grids should be used to place content within or to keep simply as a tool for designers to use on their travels. Some suggested both, however, I felt some of the grids would potentially obscure the content too much and be too challenging to work with in terms of overall layout of the publication. To do this would also limit the practicality of the publication.
