- Mirrors - playing on the idea of symmetry (based on parabolic arches) potentially use mirrors within the publication alongside half-images to produce complete symmetry within the architecture of Barcelona and image content given to work with.
- Produce different grid systems based on each individual place of interest, for example, one based on the shapes of mosaic tiles.
- Use these grid systems to place content within.
- Emboss the pages with these patterns, however, both these options may distort the text and image content too much through the process - distortion of structure based on Gaudi's non-traditional architectural designs.
- Produce sections of gridded paper based on these places for designers to use on their trip - this would therefore also be in keep with the 'personal' requirement in addition to linking the design of the guidebook to it's subject matter.
- Lazer cut mosaic patterns from the cover or pages of the guidebook and place content and/or coloured paper underneath so that the colours can reflect through the empty negative space (continues links to Gaudi's architecture).
- Use shapes incorporated into the text, for example, spirals.
Look at the book 'The Inner Life of Martin Frost' by Paul Auster and Glenn Thomas as a reference (ideas on typesetting).
