OUGD503 - Responsive Learning Outcomes

5A4 - Make appropriate use of a range of research methods, to investigate a topic and produce work relating to the critical, cultural or social context of art and design.
(Knowledge and Understanding - Research and Critical Awareness).

  • Use primary and secondary research methods - visit places rather than just internet research.
  • Look at what has been done before, how has it worked or not worked, how can you make your work unique compared to what is already out there?

5BC - Generate ideas, concepts, proposals, solutions and/or arguments, using the language, materials, processes and techniques of a designated discipline.
(Cognitive Skills - Problem Analysis, Problem Solving).

  • Generate a range of ideas and sketches.
  • Produce various prototypes for each brief to show how the idea would potentially work.
  • Experiment with a range of materials, processes and techniques related to the brief.
  • Produce a set of problems which your work/response will aim to solve.

5C3 - Respond to set briefs or proposals in a professional context.
(Practical Skills - Visual Quality and Conceptual Development).

  • Produce a fully polished outcome, which takes into consideration research, and relevant processes and methods of production.

5DC - Exercise self-management skills in managing their workloads and meeting deadlines/apply interpersonal and social skills to interact with others.
(Key Transferable Skills - Organisation, Communication and Evaluation).

  • Keep up-to-date with blog posts.
  • Organise your time, work to deadlines.
  • Continue to evaluation your work throughout the brief to show how you have considered elements which may or may not work, which can be improved on to produce a more polished final outcome.
  • Take part in and organise peer-led crits to get various different opinions on your work - constructive criticism.
  • Justify all design decisions - have reasons, a purpose and a function.
