- Use the origins associated with the term "blank slate" as a process to create work. For instance, use wax in some way/heat and melt it and smooth it like a blank slate to create or erase something. Create a piece of design which uses this idea of a blank slate/can be turned into a blank slate, potentially have two sides to the design, something that can be erased then appear again (erasable design?). Or could use chalk as a material or process in reference to the British translation of erasing chalk on a slate.
- Based on the Educationalists views, visualise a child or a child's mind being moulded and impressionable. For instance, use an abstract shape as if it is being moulded. Show how nature and nurture can mould a child (together or individually).
- Show the mind as a piece of material being hammered/moulded/pressed into shape - cracking textures? Think about materials used based on this - physical materials?
- Could use "nature" and "nurture" as the methods/materials to make something. For instance, UV sun printing paper - environment (nurture) based process. However, finding a nature process which links with its definition in the context of this debate (genes/hereditary traits) might be more challenging.
- "The human mind before ideas have been imprinted on it", "a blank slate upon which experience imprints knowledge" - use these quotes to determine another potential process to create a piece of work in printing - print, stamp, wax seal, etc. "White paper, void of all characteristics" - use this quote to explain the process behind the work in that a print starts with a "blank slate"/"white paper, void of all characteristics" which can then be imprinted on with a design based on knowledge/experiences/skills/senses, etc.
