OUGD603 - Creative Convos - Tutor Feedback (08/02)

Based on design developments and experiments for both the posters, vinyl wall stickers, and name badges, upon reflection as a group we came across a few challenges:

  • For the logotype we decided to utilise only one of the designs in order to make this more consistent amongst the promotional material, and so chose the tail which we thought was the strongest. This was found to work effectively on the posters, however when utilised for the vinyl wall sticker and name badges, cutting down the shadow, it was thought this shape started to look more like a TV than a speech bubble.
  • Amongst the poster developments, although a strong idea that worked digitally, it was realised that the coloured halftone on a black shape, used for the bubble's shadow, would prove a challenge in the physical screen-printing process, whereby the coloured halftone would not show up on the black.
  • Further developments with a black halftone and coloured shadow would work more effectively in the screen-printing process, however the black halftone was then thought to dull/limit the impact of the colour.
