OUGD603 - Penguin Student Design Award (Wonder) - Further Design Developments (2)

Feedback on these set of developments said that the blue, black and white colour scheme worked well, so it was decided to further develop this design utilising the colour blue and making the text more consistent amongst the spread, using this colour for the book title, author's name, on the spine to match the front cover, as well adding an element of blue text on the back cover.

It was also decided to change the type style of the text within the notes on the back cover using a font which linked better with the type style used amongst the spread, whilst still remaining as if handwritten. This was also utilised for the quotes for the same effect.

Despite feedback being in favour of the blue and white colour scheme, my personal preference favoured the red and white colour scheme, with the white text being more reflective of the typical, natural colour of chalk, whilst the small elements of red give the cover a slight pop of colour, reflecting the less common coloured chalks you can get. However, perhaps this colour scheme does not allow the title and author's name to be as distinguishable amongst the rest of the design.
