In starting to think about how the different courses and university as a whole could be represented visually, research from a previous project was resurrected in which one the questions asked current students at the university what they thought best represents their course. The main overarching themes which arose from this question were ideas of colour, creativity and play. In the development of pictoral designs then, this should be considered, for instance playing around with different ideas and the use of colour before coming to a final solution. Other themes included: print and pattern (printed textiles), digital design, technology, typography (graphic design), block sharp shapes, bold colours, super-graphics and communication.
