OUGD603 - Degree Show Branding - Initial Type Experiments

Working with the digital developments it was decided to explore how type would fit in with these visuals, a mandatory element which would communicate the event and the dates this would be running, as well as a potential name for the show. Based on research into what diversity and community mean it was decided as an initial name to experiment with should be 'Dimensions', playing on a quote which states "diversity creates dimension in the world", with dimension also relating to the use of form and shape within these visual designs ideas.

Initially, a traditional serif typeface was experimented with in order to match the characteristics of the Leeds Arts University logo and add an element of consistency throughout this use of type, exploring the idea of splitting this word up to create another 'dimension', as well as looking at its placement which experimented with manipulating shape size to contain the type.

A piece of peer feedback given throughout this initial type exploration was that rather than having the type match the style of the logo, a san-serif typeface should instead be experimented with which features more geometric characteristics in order to match the form of the shapes.
