OUGD406 - Studio Brief 02 - Concept Development

Although further experiments were conducted in terms of the first initial idea, I felt that this design was not doing justice to effectively communicate my chosen event so therefore decided to choose an aesthetic which would link the design more closely to this. Based on feedback, it was suggested that the design could take form of an on-flight instruction manual or safety card and so I completely modified the design to fit with this aesthetic.

Additional research into this aesthetic found a clear colour scheme of yellow, black and red, particularly in aircraft safety instruction cards from the 1900's era. It was also found that the imagery used was fairly minimal, mostly making use of simple line illustrations and diagrams to clearly and effectively communicate instructions for if there ever is an emergency on board. Examples are shown in the images below and these were used to inform my design decisions for the final print.
