OUGD406 - Studio Brief 03 - Under The Same Sun Exhibition Branding

'Under The Same Sun' is an exhibition of contemporary art from Latin America, curated by Pablo Leon de la Barra. Originally held at the Guggenheim, the exhibition underwent a new visual identity in order to create a new perspective for audiences of South London Gallery and represent it's collaboration with the Guggenheim.

One of the key aspects of the visual identity of this exhibition branding is the use of typography through processes similar to that of concrete poetry in the repetition of the exhibition title, which have been paired with vibrant blocks of colour and shapes. These were said to represent the energy of Latin American art and culture, which also highlights a unique relationship with the modernist canon.

This identity was created by design studio OK-RM, who aim to engage in collaboration with various artists, curators, designers, architects, editors and institutions. The visual identity produced by OK-RM for this exhibition shows complete consistency throughout all areas of the branding, such as exhibition catalogue, social media and posters. This is an important consideration when thinking about our own exhibition branding, as all publicity materials must be consistent to produce a coherent identity.
