Initial research found that this colour pigment had many applications, such as in paint and is used as body decoration in the Red Ochre native tribe from North America. We decided to play on both of these ideas, using it's colour range throughout. The gif features a woman from this indigenous tribe surrounding by mountains where the pigment comes from, with yellow ochre flowers raining upon her.
This workshop was both fun and engaging, as I previously had no knowledge of how to create a gif. This has opened up new ways of experimentation for my own body of work for studio practice, as well as my personal practice in terms of methods and processes, and provides a way of combining the handmade with the digital. I felt that this method of experimentation can give small stories to a concept or word, which could potentially strengthen your concept and ideas.
