OUGD406 - Studio Brief 02 - Final Printed Outcomes

The final printed outcomes used the screen-printing process, a traditional print method which involved exposing the design to light under a unit which transfers the design onto a screen. This design is then printed through pushing ink through the exposed elements of the screen.

Although pleased with how most of these prints turned out, it was decided that they needed something extra to add to the authenticity of the designs and link them more with the style of aircraft safety instruction cards. Existing cards are normally laminated in order to protect them from damage. Therefore it was decided to finish these designs by laminating them, which involved pulling the prints through a heated machine. One version of my designs were laminated double-sided in order to create a more engaging piece of material, whereby the audience would have to handle the print itself to study both sides of the design. Existing instruction cards are typically double-sided therefore this adds an extra subtle link to the idea of flight, whilst also allowing me to convey more information on the event than if I had only produced one design.
